Technology is the use of creativity, knowledge, and tools to make life easier and solve problems. It includes everything from simple inventions like pencils and wheels to advanced creations like computers, robots, and smartphones. Technology helps us communicate, travel, learn, and explore the world in new ways. Whether you’re building with blocks or coding a game, you’re using technology to turn ideas into reality!
Tynker is a full coding platform for kids ages ~5-18. It uses game-like lessons, visual block coding, and then transitions into text-based languages like Python and JavaScript. It also has Minecraft modding, robotics, and creative coding challenges to keep learners engaged.
Scratch is a block-based visual programming language where kids can create animations, stories, and games by snapping together code blocks. It’s beginner friendly (ages ~8-16) and supports creativity, sharing with a community, remixing other people’s projects, and learning computational thinking.
Code.org offers free, structured lessons and interactive courses in coding for all grade levels (K-12). It has both block-based and text-coding options, creative labs (Game Lab, App Lab, Music Lab, etc.), and themed tutorials often using characters children know (like from Minecraft or Disney). Great for beginners.
Aimed at younger children (K-5), Kodable uses fun, game-based learning to introduce core programming concepts. It grows in complexity, moving from guided, simple lessons towards more open-ended creation and even JavaScript when kids are ready.
This includes platforms and tools that teach programming basics via visual languages, robotics, and AI ideas. These are generally more modular in structure — good for children progressing beyond just drag-and-drop. (Part of “free resources” lists to help with tech literacy for kids.)
This site is more of a directory/resource hub. It provides many suggested websites and apps for K-12 students, teachers, and parents to find useful educational technology tools. Good for discovering new tools in tech that suit different ages and learning styles.
This is another curated source that suggests technology platforms, articles, video series, and tips specifically for children learning tech. It helps parents/educators find trustworthy, engaging tools.
